Since a few days it is impossible to open \\ROCK\ on one of my Windows PCs (formerly it worked). To get access I now am obliged to write an user-name and a password. That's strange, it never has been requested and I really have no idea what to fill in. Of course there is no essential need. I can manage stored music on USB-Drive from other computers in my network. The just now installed Roon software perfectly works. Ok, it's a Windows 11 problem. But perhaps you have an idea to solve it. If not, it it's no leg fracture ("Beinbruch" - as we say in Germany) If you need my mail address: lontano@gmx.de
Describe your network setup
>>Windows 11 Pro - unnecessary to say more, because the problem does not occur on 2 other PC devices
Thanks for writing in, and welcome to the community! We’re happy to have you here, but aplogize in that it’s an issue thats prompted your recent post.
From your description, it sounds like you’re running into a known issue caused by Microsoft tightening security. The username and password is still guest and guest, to access Roon OS, but now you’ll have to perform few extra steps to tell Windows that it’s OK to connect to your ROCK system as well.
Firstly, thank you for your prompt advice and for pointing out the possible cause of the problem.
Unfortunately, it didn’t help. However, I would like to emphasise that the continuing problem only bothers me MINIMALLY, because
the roon software works smoothly on the affected PC (Windows 11 Pro, 24H2)
roon can also be reached via 192.168.0.xxx
Only \ROCK\ and thus also direct access to the connected USB drive remain blocked.
There are several simple ways to copy audio files to the USB hard drive, which are superfluous to mention here.
Audio files stored on the USB device in question can be played back on the affected PC using roon software.
Hi @lontano,
No problem, we’ll go ahead and close this thread for now. If you ever want to take up troubleshooting again, we’ll be here and happy to help.
