Describe the issue

My Apple laptop crashed and I cannot access Roon server. I have a dell laptop which I would like to use as my new Roon server. How can I do this without accessing old server?

Describe your network setup

Apple router

You “should” be able to start Roon on the Dell and during install or during app startup make the Dell the new server. It should/may ask you to “deauthorize” the server you were running on the apple.

If you have access to your database backup you can try restoring it. It really depends on where your music is stored. If this is going to be a completely new install with new music storage location it might be better to not restore the DB and just start from scratch??

Hi @lvsinvi,

You can follow the migration steps presented in this guide: https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/migration

If you have an available Backup of your old RoonServer stored in another location, you can use the Restore Backup process to fully migrate the old server to the new host machine.

Otherwise, you’ll unfortunately need to rebuild your database from scratch by adding Watched Folders, connecting streaming services, and rebuilding any DSP profiles in MUSE.
