Describe the issue

I received an email today regarding the "Versions" feature of Roon, but I cannot figure out how to access/view it on my Roon?

Do you have 2 different masters or releases of an album? Be it local copies or local copy and Streaming Copy?

Here is an example of Versions:

Hi @richardgdias1,

The Versions feature handles cases where there are multiple copies of an object in your library that Roon has identified as the same.

If you have duplicates hidden by default in your Settings → General page, you might not see multiple copies of an album in your Albums browser.

Look for an album in your library that has both a streaming service and a local library version - you should have a Versions tab visible for that specific album.

Thanks for the feedback, but I still do not see a versions enable under settings. I will attach a screenshot of my General section.

@richardgdias1 Versions is not a configurable setting, Roon automatically identifies albums that are copies or variations of each other and lists these in the album view per @DrTone’s screenshot. I see that you have enabled “Show hidden tracks and albums” in Roon’s General settings, do you have mulitiple copies of the same album to see if they are listed under the Versions tab for that album.

I see it now. Thanks!

I clicked on the three buttons, and I can see where I should be able make a particular track the primary version, but it is greyed out. It is a Tidal version and I am a Tidal subscriber. Any suggestions?

Track? Versions are for albums only I believe.

A screen capture will help us help you.

You have to group them first. They are currently individual albums.

Click on “Group All”.

You can also group albums in your library from an artist’s album view by multi selecting the different versions and choosing Edit. There will be a option called Group Alternate Versions I believe.

Excellent! Thanks!

I take it when I find an album with multiple versions, it will work the same way?

Also, How do I know which is the best version? Is the highest fidelity one first in the order?

Which ever master sounds the best to you. Bit depth and sample rate really have nothing to do with it.
