Sometimes, when trying to add an album from tidal, roon won’t add it - the + icon just spins around indefinitely. It’s not a freeze, as I can still go and play music, etc.
Describe your network setup
Hyperoptic hub, wired Ethernet connection to Netgear switch, wired Ethernet to Roon Rock
After clicking the “+” button to Add to library, are you then clicking on the resulting popup that takes you to the Album details page? Is that the screen where you encounter the endless spinner?
If you navigate to the My Albums tab, can you confirm this album failed to add to your library?
What’s the name of the Album with which you most recently reproduced this issue? Please share a screenshot of the page with the endless spinning “+” icon if possible. Thanks!
With the MQA version, the API is simply failing to load the object. Tidal no longer supports MQA content, and they are possibly in the process of removing this particular album object from their library to replace it with FLAC content.
Logs are showing unclassified failures and occasional 404 status codes with nearly all upstream servers, including Roon’s device database, time servers, and other basic background functions.
This machine might be having a difficult time reaching the internet. Try bypassing the switch to see if it has any effect and we can gather additional diagnostics.
So, I don’t think it’s anything to do with this being an MQA album. Firstly, I also tried adding the 24/96 version on the same day and had exactly the same issue. Secondly, the “MQA” version is now showing album art and is fully added in Roon (I did nothing, just left it for a couple of days and it sorted itself out). The file always played correctly - none of the actual tracks are MQA (despite the album being shown as that in Roon’s high level overview) - it’s just plain old 16/44.
As I mentioned, this is an issue which has been happening on and off for years on all sorts of albums, and definitely not confined to MQA. Also, seemingly random - most times it will all work OK, then Roon suddenly decides it will be difficult…
I’ll bypass the switch tomorrow morning (UK time) so you can gather additional diagnostics. I didn’t realise being connected to a switch would prevent this.
