Describe the issue

I can not ever add a NAS folder as network share for Storage in roon settings

Describe your network setup

Xfinity WiFi, Orbi CBR750

I think you have made an error in the format of your Network share location - you seem to have included an extra folder in there (the screenshot image is small and rather difficult to read). The format is \\host\share, not \\host\extra folder name\share as you seem to be using. I suspect also that you won’t need to enter a Workgroup name either - try leaving this field blank.

My hopes were up, but that didn’t work. I tried \GUSTAV_JR\music_zinkl, with and without filling in workgroup. “Unexpected error” still :slightly_frowning_face:

I notice that in your screenshot, you seem to have been able to add one NAS folder successfully. On the screen behind the “Add network share” screen I think I can see that \\GUSTAV_JR\Music is showing as a Watched Folder.

Is there some difference in the access permissions between the two shared folders (Music and music_zinkl)?

That other folder is empty now. Whenever I tried to use it, Roon could never detect the contents and ignored it. I can’t get rid of it. The music_Zinkl has music files

You used music_zinkl in your screenshot - perhaps the name is case-sensitive? As a matter of interest, what is the make and model of the NAS you are using?

Hi @Gregory_Zinkl,

Diagnostics indicate that this drive’s availability to RoonServer is fluctuating between Ready and NotReady, despite no indication of network changes.

Let’s verify that this drive is ready to be mounted by connecting it to a Windows computer and running a disk check and ejecting. This is a standard process that helps reset the drive’s availability to be mounted.

Open CMD on Windows PC
Type `chkdsk d: /f` (assuming windows has assigned the external drive D)
Safely eject drive from bottom taskbar area (if showing there)
Connect drive to Nucleus again
