Unable to add network share due to IP address change (ref#19A7BO)

What’s happening?

· My Roon software won't start up

Describe the issue

I added a Wi-Fi router to my existing router in my home LAN, so the IP address changed and I need to change the settings on the device.
The address of the save location in the ROON settings changed, so I entered the network share location, username, and password
in "Add network share" and pressed the add button,
but it displayed the message "Invalid network path specified” and rejected it.
Please tell me what to do.

Describe your network setup

Home gateway NTT PR-500MI
Wi-Fi Router Buffalo WNR-5400XE6P

Replace the semicolon (;) after smb with a colon (:) to make it valid, then try again.

When I took a screen shot, I made a misstype. In the case of colon, the result is the same.

Hi @111157,

Let’s make sure Sequoia itself isn’t blocking the local network connection. Navigate to your MacOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network and verify RoonServer has local network access. Restart RoonServer (or the machine itself) and then attempt to add the network share again.

I checked Privacy & Security → Local Network. And I confirmed that the switch of RoonServer was ON(Right). I tried “Add network share” , but rejected again.

Can you try flipping it off and then back on again. A number of users had the toggle set to on but it wasn’t actually on.

I tried flipping it off and then back on again, and then I tried the networt share again.
But “Invalid network path specified” message was deplayed and entry was rejected.

I don’t know what your current error message is or if a non-existing path specified also leads to an invalid error.

It is unlikely that there is a share named “share” including a folder named “music” – it is much more likely that the share is named “music”. The URL to connect to such a share would then be: smb://192.168.11.39/music
As this is your setup, I suggest you lookup the name used/configured on the machine that provides the share. Additional troubleshooting steps can be found in:

I don’t know if that means anything (the translation is correct), but there is no real need or logic to provide an URL or network path here with more than two components, a server component and a share component.

Apparently I had misunderstood the path to the save location. I checked the path again and found that the following path was correct.
smb://192.168.11.39/internal/import/all/music
I entered the new path name and it worked fine. Thank you very much.
