· I recently bought a new Synology NAS and transferred all my music files to it, now when I add network share, it either gives me invalid path or unexpected error message--I am pretty familiar with both Roon and NAS but really understand this. My Roon core is on the old NAS, I am operating it on a Mac mini. All network drive connection and mapping in Mac OS has no problem at all--using either the NAS name or IP address. Please help

· The whole setup has no problem before. Here it is: Asus RT-BE88U as the main router, TP-Link 10G switch--TL-ST2008, Use Astrill VPN applet on the router--It doesn't work no matter VPN is on or off
Log file uploaded to log storage and yes I also tried using IP address–I use double 10GbE NIC on the NAS so I tried both IPs but nothing worked. Cheers. Ralph
Thank you for the update and for uploading the logs.
To help narrow this down, we’d like to clarify a couple of things:
Adding the folder via the NAS interface (not Roon)
Since your Roon Core is running directly on a NAS, have you tried mounting the new NAS on the Core NAS using the Synology DSM interface, and then adding that local mount path in Roon?
In other words:
Mount NAS #2 inside NAS #1 using DSM (Control Panel → File Services / Remote Folder / Mount, depending on your setup),
Then add that mounted folder in Roon → Settings → Storage as a local path, not as a network share.
This helps us determine whether the issue is specific to SMB authentication from Roon, or to the NAS-to-NAS mount itself.
SMB settings on the new NAS
On the new Synology NAS you’re trying to add, could you please confirm:
SMB is enabled
SMB version is set to SMB2/SMB3
Whether SMB encryption (“Encrypt data transfer”) is enabled
In some configurations, enforced SMB encryption can prevent Roon from adding the share and result in “invalid path” or “unexpected error” messages.
Once we have this information, we can guide you more precisely on the next steps.
I would suggest that you need not only need to do the above, but you will need to uninstall and reinstall Roon on NAS on NAS #1 and point to this new share during the installation wizard.
Revisiting this case since we haven’t seen a response.
If you are hosting your RoonServer on a Synology NAS, then you will need to install Roon on NAS as @DDPS has mentioned and point the installation at the second NAS for a network share.
At this time, our server diagnostics indicate that you might have already taken this step (we see an active network share on a Synology). Just to confirm, have you resolved this issue behind the scenes?
