Describe the issue

I've installed a HDD in my Nucleus One. Online, I've formatted it successfully. In Roon Remote, I've disabled my previous NAS library drive and enabled the internal Nucleus drive. I've disabled Roon Server online. But when I try to drag files from the NAS to the new drive, I get a message saying I need to click "Authenticate." I see no such option in Roon, on the Admin page, or on Mac Finder. What's wrong?

Describe your network setup

Roon Nucleus One connected to Netgear Orbi (combo cable modem, Ethernet router & WiFi hub). NAS & Mac mini are on same Ethernet network.

I did find out how to enable the internal drive - I disabled my NAS and then enabled the internal drive. But I STILL can’t transfer files! When I try, I get a message about needing a user name and password - but I am not given any form to enter them!

Have you logged into the new roon server? Start a remote on your computer or phone and connect to the New Nucleus one. It will (might?) probably tell you that you are already signed in to the old server and you need to de-authorize it and then you can connect (authorize) the new server.

If this is a network connect error then see this to see if it helps:

My “old Room server” was on my Mac mini. I de-authorized the Mac mini server when the Roon Nucleus One arrived. I have been using the Nucleus successfully ever since with a Synology NAS as my library drive. Yasterday, I installed, formatted, and verified (using Mac Finder) the new Nucleus internal drive. Where I’m stuck is in trying to copy all my library files from the Synology NAS to the new internal drive.

To make the transfer, I’m using Finder on my Mac. I can see both drives and read their contents, but when I try to drag-and-drop files, I get that error message. Copy-and-paste doesn’t work either.

I do not know whether the problem is with Roon, with the Synology, or with the Mac. Ideas? Thanks!

Are you sure the destination folder is the InternalStorage folder in your Nucleus? Your issue sounds similar to this:

Hi @Glenn_Young ,

Are you able to connect to the Nucleus properly from another PC or device? I noticed you had an iPad registered to your account, there’s a free SMB app you can try if you want:
