As far as I can tell the folder is shared properly. The share is accessible from other Macs and also a pc. Roon itself runs on my Synology Nas. I’m using a Mac Studio Running Mac OS Sequoia 15.2.
Thanks for reaching out. It is very strange that this folder shows as a 8KB file size, have you used this to store your backups in the past? If you try to create a new folder on your Mac (standard drive, not on the external) and share it, do you have issues accessing that?
Yes. The only reason it’s on the external drive is because I was trying it there as it did not work when on the internal drive - showing the same error message. (Someone elsewhere said they’d had success creating a share on an an external drive when it didn’t work on an internal Mac drive). The folder was newly created - I then put a folder with a small file in it see if I could access them from a Mac and a PC (which I could). Sorry for any confusion that has caused.
Thanks for clarifying that. You don’t by any chance have a firewall app or VPN active on the Mac that could be interfering, do you? It looks like your Mac also switched IP to a .7 ending address is the same issue still happening? Looking over your account diagnostics, it seems like the issue is permissions-related, perhaps this is related to the MacOS username?
I do use a firewall but the issue was the same when switched off. The .7 is the ip address of the WiFi on the Mac .6 is the Ethernet port. I just tried to use that on one occasion to see if that changed anything - but it didn’t. If the issue is permissions related would that not interfere with accessing from a pc which worked ok? Same question re: user name. What might be the potential issue with the user name?
