System or third-party *firewalls *or *antivirus software* can sometimes block RoonServer from reaching ARC.
· Try adding RoonServer and its associated processes to the whitelist of any firewalls or antivirus software you have installed, including the Windows system firewall, if applicable. Has the status in Roon -> Settings -> ARC changed after adding exceptions in your firewalls and antivirus software for Roon? ARC is still *Not Ready*

Describe the issue
Cannot connect to Arc I have a single ISP which I can access all info, NAT is enabled, UPnP is enabled, I use a Nucleus plus as my server. I have also tried connecting with Tailscale but to no avail.
Describe your network setup
ISP is Optus & Make/Model is simply Optus on a Fibre/Cable connection. Modem is connected via ethernet cable directly from Modem to Nucleus plus.
Thank you for your post. Have you tried creating a manual port forwarding rule in your Optus router settings? That’s worth checking first.
If that doesn’t work, you might be behind CG-NAT. In the experience of this forum, Optus has unfortunately implemented carrier-grade network address translation (CG-NAT) across their residential-tier accounts. This means port forwarding won’t work without some extra steps. There are a few workarounds available:
Option 1: many ISPs offer a dedicated IPv4 address, sometimes for a monthly fee. It’s worth reaching out to Optus to inquire what options they have available to support port forwarding.
Option 2: the Nucleus Plus doesn’t have a built-in Tailscale network interface like newer Nucleus models, but you can use another machine on your network that has Tailscale as a subnet router. You’ll need to have another computer available (even a Raspberry Pi or other small computer will work) that can install Tailscale. You’ll configure this computer’s Tailscale profile to forward other traffic on your network to the Tailscale subnetwork you’ve created. Here are Tailscale’s specific instructions: Configure a subnet router · Tailscale Docs
We usually recommend reaching out to your ISP first.
Thanks Connor, please see attached what I’ve set up on the Optus router, plus I do also have Tailscale set up on all my devices just unsure how to set up correctly from here with the Nucleus plus ?
Tailscale and port forwarding are mutually exclusive - you’ll need to rely on one or the other, but not both.
Let’s try the manual rule for port forwarding first. Turn Tailscale off on the phone. Make sure that the port number in Settings → ARC is also 55000 as in your screenshot - if that’s not working, change the value to 56000 or something else in both the router settings and in the Roon settings page.
If port forwarding still isn’t working, you can delete the manual rule and disable NATPMP/UPnP in the router unless you need those for another service. You’ll know the manual rule has failed because Settings → ARC will still show “Not Ready” in Roon.
In that case, let’s move to Tailscale instead. Turn Tailscale back on for your phone’s connection.
I notice you have an Apple TV in your Tailscale subnet. This makes things relatively simple.
Open the Tailscale app on your Apple TV, and select Subnet Router.
Select Advertise New Route. A placeholder combined IP address and subnet mask (CIDR) of 192.168.1.0/24 will display.
Next, you will need to take some steps in the Tailscale Admin Settings page. These instructions are provided by Tailscale directly and are outside of Roon - see here specifically for instructions on the AppleTV: Subnet routers · Tailscale Docs
This will allow your Nucleus Plus to reach the Tailscale network through the Apple TV, since the Nucleus Plus can’t install Tailscale directly.
Hi @Geoff_Lust,
We’re glad to hear ARC is working for you now! I’ll mark this thread as solved for you. It will remain open for a couple more days in case the problem returns.
Not too sure whether this is related in any way but for some reason today my Nucleus plus came up with back up failed and to reload a previous backup which I did try to no avail. I then tried an older backup and this failed as well. I then did a hard restart by unplugging the power, ethernet cable & ext hard drive and tried to restart however it wont reboot just keep getting the screen I have attached here.
There is also no factory reset button on my Nucleus plus ? seems odd ? are you able to assist with this issue for an easy fix
