Is Roon Server running?

Describe the issue

Hello,

I have been using your ROM server for almost a year now. Until recently, I was very satisfied with it, but unfortunately it has stopped working.

I have two locations, both based on QNAP servers, and everything had been working very smoothly so far. The software was running properly on both servers in both locations.

Unfortunately, a few weeks ago — it is difficult for me to say exactly when — one of the devices stopped working properly. My iPhone could no longer see the server. I tried various solutions, but none of them helped.

At first, I thought the issue was related to the QNAP hardware, since the device I tested it on is quite old and has limited memory and storage capacity. However, I have now arrived at my second location, where I also have the server installed, למעשה on a dedicated device, and I am experiencing exactly the same issue there. I have lost the ability to connect to the server.

Have you made any recent changes? Why am I unable to see the server even though I am on the same network and have not changed anything?

I have the impression that this started after an update of your software on QNAP servers. Have you received similar reports from other users?

Could you please help me or suggest a way to restore the correct settings?

I should also add that I reinstalled the software on the QNAP server, but unfortunately this did not resolve the issue.

The Roon Server package no longer works after the Roon update to version 2.65 released on April 27. (It has some increased requirements and it turned out that QNAP hasn’t updated certain operating system libraries in 10 years).

Please switch to the new official Docker image to run Roon Server on your NAS. See also:

Hello @p.turecki, welcome to the community. It looks like your QNAP package stopped launching after the recent Roon update, and there is a known change here.

The legacy Roon Server package on QNAP no longer works with the newer release, so the fix is to move to the official Docker-based install. Please follow our Installing RoonServer on QNAP with Docker guide, which walks through Container Station and the current supported setup.

If you run into trouble while switching over, let us know which QNAP model and Container Station version you have installed, and we can help from there.
