Roon Core on Sonictransporter

Describe your network setup

Roon Core on Sonic Transporter. Currently using Trinnov Altitude as Roon Ready device to run playlists, etc.
Just purchased Eversolo DMP-A8 which is listed as Roon Ready but when i access Roon on my laptop is shows the Eversolo as another device using AirPlay. It is not recognized as the Roon Ready device and is not playing higher than 44.1.

ethernet connection fast network same LAN

Eversolo only shows as AirPlay(44.1) device and won’t play FLAC files at hi-res 96. Why is Eversolo not listed under Roon Ready devices?

Did you enable its Roon Ready input in Roon > Settings > Audio and then chosen this in Roon‘s zone menu?

I assume these settings you are describing are in the Roon player software under Audio.

When I select Eversolo it is listed as Other Devices and has “AirPlay” icon and cannot be changed to Roon Ready - there is no such option to change it.

I wonder if this is related to my Android Pixel 8 or if the Eversolo DMP-A8 needs a firmware update. I cannot locate an update and the Eversolo says my firmware is current.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Yes. There are different sections for different protocols. If a device supports more than one protocol, it appears under each one and you enable them separately (and you can enable them more than once, if desired). In my case, the Naim and the WiiM appear once under Roon Ready (enabled) and once under Other as AirPlay (not enabled). Does your Eversolo not show in the Roon Ready category?

The Internet tells me you need at least Firmware V1.2.96 installed

Eversolo shows I’m running v1.2.80 which is Up to Date.

  1. Is v1.2.96 only available in Beta?
  2. Is it safe to apply beta version?
  3. Do you recommend direct online update or download to USB first?

Thank you.

No.

My Eversolo only shows in the “Other network devices” category. I have enabled, disbled, and tried various tricks but it always shows in the “Other” category as an Airplay device.

It does not show in Roon Ready category, and I don’t see how to get it into the Roon Ready category.

That’s why I’m suspicious i need a firmware update.

Thanks for helping.

I don’t know. When googling for “Roon Ready Eversolo DMP-A8” I found several of articles like this (German):

There’s also this here on the forum, from May:

Yes I think so too

Again, thanks for your help.

Trying to decide if it’s safe to run beta software.

Any idea how long it will take for v1.2.96 or higher to be released officially (non-beta)?

Hey @David_Golden,

Thanks for writing in and sharing your report! It’s good to see you on the community again!

This would be a question for Eversolo directly - if you want to use the Roon Ready capability, we suggest updating the firmware as the best next step.

We’ll be on standby for your reply, thank you! :raised_hands:

1.2.95 was beta back in May, but I don’t know if 1.2.96 still is beta now, half a year later. This would be a question for Eversolo, I think.

Trying to work through this - afraid of bricking my Eversolo if the beta firmware is buggy. Wish they would post an anticipated release date.

Thanks.

I just checked the version running on my DMP-A8 and am now up to v1.3.30.

When I turned on Eversolo today it notfied me that an online upgrade was available. I installed it and am now running 1.3.30. The Eversolo now appears as both Roon Ready and Airplay devices. I selected the Roon Ready version and it’s playing as expected and playing up to 192/24. Haven’t tried higher yet. I’m still experimenting but so far so good. Problem appears to be solved.

Thanks for everyone’s help.
