Hello, I have Roon and I'm using it more and more on my MacBook Pro. I managed to connect Roon to my Qobuz account and recognize my Cocktail Audio X45 streamer. But I can't connect Roon to my streamer's hard drive, where 2 TB of tracks from my CD collection are stored. I imagined that with Roon I could enrich the track information on the hard drive, for example by adding album art, titles, etc., or simply by controlling Roon's hard drive playback. But I can't figure out how to connect Roon to the X45's hard drive. Can you help me? Thanks in advance, Sincerely, Christophe
Whilst I understand what you’re trying to do, it would work best to have the hard drive in a USB caddy and connected to your MacBook Pro.
If it were possible to pull music from this hard drive whilst mounted in the streamer, it would be pulling music from it through to the MacBook Pro (Roon) and back to your streamer. Could lead to dropouts, depending on how everything is setup.
Thanks for sharing such a detailed report - and for taking the time to write in. @Mr.Flibble does make a good point above, it’s certainly an option to set up a more direct physical connection between your local library and your Mac.
Are you able to see and connect to the streamer/ HD using a network share to the Mac itself, completely outside of Roon?
How is both your Mac and streamer connected to your primary router?
This article is a good place to get started if you’re already able to connect to the drive outside of Roon:
We haven’t seen a response to this thread yet. Please let us know once you’ve had a chance to review the responses above. We’ll need a little more information to proceed with troubleshooting from here.
Specifically, we’ll need to know the answers to the two questions that @benjamin asked in the post above:
