Describe the issue

I tried to bring up my NUC7i7 (ROCK installed). Roon on my iphone did not identify. Finally i installed ROCK on my PC to play music for now. I was asked to un-recognise other ROCK. I did it so i can play Roon from PC. I need to move back to my NUC.

Describe your network setup

PPOE to DECO X55 to Switch to DECO X55 - all wired. Wired connection from Deco X55 to NUC.

I launched Roon from my PC and this is the message I get

I choose “Find my Roon Server” and i get below screen
image

No other option hence i clicked on “Use this PC”. … and below screen came up.

Should I reset my NUC? Like hard reset (how please ?) and start installing ROCK again?

Should I un-install ROON installed on my PC? (Dont mind, maybe I will try it out)

I tried to un-install ROON from my PC. Not sure what other RoonServer instances I have installed.

I can give control of my PC, can support team can force un-install ?. Want my NUC back .

Went to Task manager, end-task Roon and then un-installed Roon.

Now need to solve Rock on NUC

Hi @JnanM,

Please see here for a detailed guide on migrating your RoonServer:

Do you have a Backup available? We want to make sure you’re not wiping a database inadvertently, depending on what steps you’ve taken so far on the NUC and on the PC.

It sounds like you have two instances of RoonServer running on this PC at the moment. Let’s verify you’ve deeply uninstalled RoonServer so the ROCK is the only instance. On the PC:

  • Exit out of RoonServer
  • Navigate to your RoonServer’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old”

Unless you wiped the BIOS on your NUC, you should still have RoonOS installed. If you want to migrate back to the ROCK, you should just be able to restore a Backup, or even just turn on RoonServer, depending on what steps you’ve taken.

What do you see in the ROCK’s WebUI?

Thank you @connor I have uninstalled Roon and also there is no roonserver folder on my PC now. then i restarted the NUC but nothing moving forward.

Looks like I need to re-install ROCK on the NUC from start ? Like reset of NUC?
I have not taken back up since long time (many house movements now Im in final destination).
Should i Install Roon on my PC and take back up. and then “deep un-install” Roon on PC, before re-installing ROCk on NUC. Please advice

@connor please advise if I should proceed. Don’t mind loosing any back up data etc.

Hey @JnanM,

If you are ok with starting completely fresh with Roon, then you don’t need a backup.

Are you able to access the webUI of the ROCK when its active and hardwired directly to your router? Here’s more info on the webUI:

You may not need to reinstall ROCK on the NUC yet. Let us know the results! :+1:

Thank you @benjamin

WebUI of the ROCK ? (I m as dumb as you can get, so …)

  • Does my NUC needs a monitor connected for this (webUI) activity?
[ My router is far off. Config of my router. Internet → Deco X55 → Switch → Deco X55 → NUC7i7 (all Cat6 wired). ]
  • Should I install Roon on my PC so that I can do tasks mentioned on the “RoonOS webUI” link provided
  • WORST Case: I will have to go through all re-installation. good if i can avoid.
  • Note: Dont mind loosing any back up. its not much due to many house movements etc. - Writing this so that you may feel free to recommend worst case.

No. Just read the web page that was linked above

I clicked on “More about Roon OS” and below screen popped up
I will delete screen shots later. for now pls bear with me.

Looks like i have completely messed. on the Setup → I can click “Find” but … still in searching for Roon OS Server. Maybe the Server is on my PC.

I installed Roon on my PC and I can play music on my Devialet Expert and all. But unable to find my NUC. All hardwired to my network.

→ Not sure about this one.

I removed the RoonServer (renamed to _Old). I get below screen shot.

“Clicking on Find my Roon Server” I get below screen

This is quite embarrassing …

  • I have wire-connected NUC directly to my Router (no switch in between)
  • I can click on “Use this PC”, yes it will work but RoonServer will be installed on my PC

Edit: I dont see my NUC (after powered ON, wire connected to main Router). … something grossly incorrect. On the Deco Map it should show all clients connected. including Devialet Expert, but not NUC (sic)

Will write back later.

Until I figure out existing NUC or go for new NUC/Nucleus(not available in India/will see if someone travelling from other countries)…

This should work correct? Suggestions/opinions?
