You should contact the manufacturer of your server. They should provide an update of their software.
Thanks, I have contacted Rockna as well. I simply want to go back to the previous version 2.64 in the mean time. Shouldn’t be that difficult to provide,as upgrades are optional.
I check the updates daily via the Rockna web interface, but unfortunately, so far without result.
It’s been 3 weeks since I can’t use ROON on WD NET.
Hello, nothing from Rockna at this point. Again please provide me a copy of Version 2.64 in the interim so I can enjoy my lifetime subscription with your platform. Thanks
Rockna posted this on their facebook. It does not work for me. With mozilla I press reinstall and nothing seems to happen. Perhaps it’s because im still running the latest roon on my pc and phone so it won’t talk to the NET??
Rockna has just released an update version 1.62. Using the WEB console, I performed the update, but it did not help, including restarting the system. Perhaps you need to do the same with Utilities → Roon ->Server ->Reinstall ?
I will add good news to my review - despite the fact that the update to version 1.62 did not change anything, I reinstalled roon (In Wavedream NET Control: “Utilities”→”Reinstall”) and the roon checkmark turned on!
However, my roon client on the tablet still did not see the roon server.
Then, I chose “choose another roon server” in “android roon remote app” and finally, my rockna roon server was detected.
I had to configure it first, but now my roon+ qobuz are working!
Now the version of my roon server is 2.64, roon remote offers me to update the version again, but I won’t do that anymore.
Thank the gods, the sound of rokna is with me again))
I was able to finally connect as well after updating with the latest firmware and reinstalling Roon.
A question for Roon, does it mean that Roon server software installed on this hardware should not be updated at all from now on?
Thank you.
Yes unfortunately the Roon check mark will not switch back on even after ‘reinstall’.
I have heard of a few other people who the Rockna temporary fix did not work for them.
Reinstall the software from “utilities” and it will work ![]()
I asked Rockna a question about upgrading to the latest version of ROON and received an answer according to which I understand that the latest possible update for roon server 2.64 and the update version 1.62 from Rockna only commits and makes it impossible to install further versions of Roon.
I don’t think that future versions of ROON will significantly change the sound of the streamer.
But,..this is not a good thing, because it is likely in the future that the integration protocol with, say, Qobuz will change..
If I’m wrong, please write..
“..currently, the NET software is preventing future updates.
You can disregard the update notifications, and I guess you can also disable updates from Roon menu…”
Kind Regards,Nicolae”
Not sure I get what you mean: are they saying to stop updating Roon, as they’re not going to update the WD Net anymore? Or did I misunderstand?
I don’t fully understand Rockna’s response, but I’m 100% sure it doesn’t state that WD Net support is ending or that future updates will be available.
I hope new firmware will be released over time, but for now, this is a temporary solution to allow WD Net to work with Roon again, albeit with a limited version.
Limited version?
Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Waiting for Roon server: I cannot get roon to connect to my server which is a Rockna Wavenet. I have turned off my firewall on Windows 11 computer and I am able to view the music files on the sata ssd drive on my Rockna which shows that the network is connected. I can play the music on my Rockna sata drive on my computer, but not though my music system without the Roon connection. I have tried restarting the Rockna, but that did not help. What should I do?

You need a firmware update from Rockna to make your Wavedream compatible to Roon Server again. Please see also:
Hello everyone,
Thank you all for sharing your findings regarding the Rockna Wavedream NET. We are glad to hear that Rockna’s v1.62 firmware and the “Reinstall” workaround have allowed some of you to get back online by rolling back to Roon version 2.64.
To answer the questions raised by @Tin_Onn_Lee and @fotti_daggo regarding freezing your Roon Server updates: while this temporary fix gets your music playing today, locking your Roon Server at an older version will eventually lead to connectivity issues.
Why freezing updates is only a temporary solution: While you can prevent the Rockna Server from updating, your Roon Remote apps generally update automatically through their respective app stores. While it is technically possible to manually disable automatic updates on Windows and Android, doing so on Apple devices (Mac and iOS) is mostly impossible. Eventually, the version gap between your updated Remotes and the frozen Server (v2.64) will become too large, and the Remotes will simply refuse to connect.
Furthermore, the most critical factor is our cloud infrastructure. As communication and security protocols for Roon’s backend and streaming partners (like TIDAL and Qobuz) naturally evolve over time, an older, frozen version of Roon Server will eventually fail to authenticate with the cloud and lose access to those services entirely.
While this patch is a helpful band-aid for right now, the only permanent solution is for the device manufacturer to provide a full underlying operating system update that includes the modern software libraries required to run the latest (and future) Roon builds. We highly recommend continuing to reach out to Rockna support to request this.
Please let us know if you have any other questions!
