· My DAC, streamer, or speaker doesn't appear as a Zone in Roon
What type of Zone is affected by this problem?
· *Directly-connected Zones* are affected.
Is your device connected directly to the Roon Server via cable or over the network, or is it chained through another device (such as a streamer, Roon Bridge, or Roon Remote)?
· Connected directly to my RoonServer machine
Does the device show up at all in Roon Settings -> Audio?
· No, it does not show up there
Does the device play audio from another source when using the same connection?
· The device has no problems with another audio source
Have you checked that Roon is whitelisted in any firewalls?
· I've checked the firewall and the issue remains
Since you are using a network connection to the device, please ensure that your RoonServer is on the same subnet as the device
· My devices are on a single subnet but is not visible to Roon
Do you have a complex network setup?
· I have a *mesh network* with devices connected to multiples points
Your local network might need some re-arranging to support Roon.
· None of the suggestions have helped me. I'd like to submit a support request.
What are the make and model of the affected audio device(s) and the connection type?
· Shiit Audio Bifrost 2/64 DAC, USB
Describe the issue
I'm trying to connect Shiit Audio DAC, Bifrost 2/64 to a USB port on the roon server
Describe your network setup
Tmobile wireless broadband, EERO mesh router, all core devices are hard wired to the router
What are you using for your server and have you tried any other endpoints? Is it possible you have a bad USB cable or a bad port on your server or the Bifrost?
Thank you for the prompt response. The server is a dedicated DELL PC with 32 GB, running Windows 10 PRO. Yes all endpoints are operable when using SONOS, my goal is to eliminate SONOS and go directly to the DAC via USB. I suppose it could be a bad USB port on the DAC but it is new and is otherwise working fine. The cable is also new, The DAC seems to recognize that something is connected to the port. I’ve tried several different USB ports on the DELL and verified that the USB ports are active in the OS.
That’s a pretty simple setup and it should work with no problems. If you’re using a boutique USB cable, try a standard PC USB cable. As Martin says, try the USB 2.0 port on the back. Have you tried a different app (ie: WMP, Musicbee, JRiver, etc.) to the Bifrost to make sure it’s working? If none of that works you may have to wait for Roonies to read the logs to diagnose the connection problem.
Okay, after spending way too much time on it, the is problem solved! The Roon server is a headless PC that I access through MS Remote Desktop. The remote desktop login screen has a number of options that 99% of the time can be ignored. In this case, there is an option to redirect audio to the the remote PC (default). Changing that setting solved the problem. Thanks for the help.
