Describe the issue

Unable to connect to Roon ARC

I am using Roon Rock, but Roon ARC displays ‘Not Ready’ and I cannot connect from outside my home Wi-Fi network. I am using an Aterm WH823A router with UPnP enabled. I have tried turning the feature on and off, but the status remains unchanged. What should I do?

Disable UPnP on your router

Use Tailscale instead

Hello @Satoshi_Aoyagi,

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out and for providing the detailed diagnostic output.

The message “Did not find UPnP service with WANIPConnection on network” indicates that although your router responds to UPnP discovery, it does not support the required UPnP WANIPConnection service used by Roon ARC. This is why automatic port forwarding is failing.

To resolve this, please try the following steps:

  • Verify Modem is in Bridge Mode (if applicable)

  • Disable Any VPNs or Firewalls

  • Ensure Static IP for ROCK

  • Manually Configure Port Forwarding

  • Configure the Tailscale VPN

Kind regards,

Vadim

Thank you for your response. I have tried from the top down and only when using Tailscale was I able to connect to ARC.
I have to turn Tailscale on and off on my smartphone, but it looks like this is the only way to do it.

Hello @Satoshi_Aoyagi,

We’re happy to hear that Tailscale resolved your issue with the ARC connection!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns regarding this matter.

Kind regards,
Vadim
