Hi @Mark_Toepke, welcome back to the community.

If Roon is saying it cannot connect, the most useful place to start is the network path between your Roon Server and the rest of your network. Since you mentioned an Xfinity router and a Sonnet switch, we should verify a few details first:

  • What device is running Roon Server, and is it connected by Ethernet or WiFi?
  • Is the Sonnet switch between the router and the Roon Server, or between the router and your Roon Remotes?
  • What exactly do you see in Roon when the connection fails, for example, a login issue, “waiting for your Roon Server,” or something else?

While you check that, our Networking Best Practices guide is a good reference for the kinds of router and switch setups Roon expects to see.

Reply with those details and we can narrow this down from there.

Hi @Mark_Toepke,

Just checking in on this. Were you able to look at the network path we mentioned and confirm what device is running Roon Server, whether it is on Ethernet or WiFi, and where the Sonnet switch sits in the chain? If you can also tell us exactly what Roon shows when the connection fails, whether it is a login problem, “waiting for your Roon Server,” or something else, we can narrow this down quickly.

Please note, if we don’t hear back from you this thread may close automatically soon. If the thread auto-closes and you need further assistance, please submit a reopen support request via the technical support help form below and specify that the issue should be reopened. Thank you.

Hi @Mark_Toepke,

Diagnostic logs show that the ROCK might be detecting multiple subnetworks on this local network, or that multicast traffic is otherwise not reaching remotes reliably from your ROCK.

The most straightforward test is to bypass the managed SoTM switch and hardwire the ROCK directly to the same router that you use for your ethernet/WiFi on your computers/tablets/other Roon Remotes.

What is actual layout of network equipment in this setup? Do you have a second router in addition to the switch?
