I have very limited knowledge of technology.
Roon will not connect to my Lumin P1 steamer. I had it running until 2 days ago but I can no longer connect.
However, when you install Roon on an iMac, two applications are actually installed. The Roon desktop client (provideng UI and, potentially a Mac hosted endpoint) and the Roon Server (which has no UI associated with it).
In order for Roon to work there must be at least one active Roon Server on your network. In your case, this is likely to be the one running on your Mac.
However, it is possible, that the Roon Server on your Mac is not running automatically. When it is running, you can access the application context menu (right mouse click on Windows - presumably the same on a Mac?) and the check an entry that say something to the effect of ‘Run Roon Server on Startup’. Then Roon Server will start up every time you power up your iMac.
Since the Lumin is Roon Ready, as long as it is connected to your network, it should then be available to use in Roon (at least after it has been enabled in Roon Settings → Audio in the desktop client app or the Roon Remote app on the iPad).
Thanks for reaching out. Has it been a while since you’ve used Roon? I noticed that your account is showing an old Roon All-in-one installation as active, so I wonder if something perhaps went wrong with the migration, as Roon now uses a Remote + Server type configuration instead. Do you have any backups or can create a new backup from your iMac? I would give that a try and then reinstall Roon + RoonServer using the below instructions:
Let’s get you on a fresh database and see if your issues persist:
I am 70 years old and have little understanding of technology. Tech support has sent messages to me but I have zero understanding of what they are suggesting I try. I need to have personal direction to understand how to connect Roon.
Describe your network setup
I have a modem that connects directly into my Lumin X1 streamer
