Unable to connect to Roon server after database restoration (ref#VTJJFW)

What’s happening?

· I’m having trouble with Roon backups (making or restoring one)

Describe the issue

I just set up a new server to replace my desktop that was running roon as a single machine. Server was working with my new desktop fine. The server is only used for roon. I restored a backup of the database to the server but now it does not function at all. Roon won't let me in on the desktop OR the server although the server itself is running fine and I can access from the new desktop. The message I get is: "Waiting for the Roon server" "Roon is still trying to connect" "Check that the server is on, etc" "Select different server". As I said, the server is fine. Roon isn't. I can't even restore the backup that I made just before I started this exercise. How do I proceed?

Describe your network setup

Old machine was windows 10. New machines are server 2025 and windows 11. Inexpensive switch, all hardwired. As I said, worked fine before trying to restore the database.

Hey @Steven_Gladstone,

Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report!

Can you please first double-check that all your devices are running on the same local subnet? If possible, please temporarily disable all but a single subnet and reboot your router / devices, and see if you’re able to connect.

Let us know the results - thank you! :folded_hands:

Hi. Thanks for the quick response. None or this makes any sense to me since both computers were talking just fine as long as it wasn’t Roon but, it’s working now. The only things on the subnet are the 2 computers,a wireless router that is for the cell phones, and the internet provider’s cable. Rebooting the little switch and the computers seemed illogical. I forgot that computers have no logic. Anyway, it’s churning thru the music drives now and hopefully will finish by the time I come back to listen. Thanks for the help. steven

Hi @Steven_Gladstone ,

Glad to hear that everything is working as expected again. Hope you have a great listening session!
