Unable to connect to Roon Server and audio devices (ref#AGQA97)

Is Roon Server running?

· No, Roon Server is not running.

For Roon connectivity to work properly, both Roon Server and Roon Remote need to be turned on.

· I can't turn on Roon Server, I need help.

Describe the issue

i have been using roon successfully for a number of years. however i have had a problem recently, seemingly "out of the blue". initially roon could not connect to my mytek manhattan dac, which has a roon card, but it would connect to a sonos speaker. shortly after that it would not connect to anything; the message stated "trying to connect to your roon server..." and never connected to anything. i use xfinity wifi and a macbook pro as my roon core access and an iphone 13 as roon remote. i am not at the level of computer literacy assumed in your support pages and need step by step assistance. thank you.

Describe your network setup

i run macbook pro with sonoma 14.6.1 macOS as roon core access. I use iphone 13 running ios 17.6.1. i use xfinity wifi and deco extenders.

Hi @george_eshelman,
Thanks for writing in to let us know about this issue. Let’s try a fresh database and see if your issues persist:

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon + RoonServer (from taskbar area)
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon Server” and “Roon”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old” and “Roon” to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup

If you still can’t connect to your Roon Server after following these steps please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader
