Describe the issue

Every time I try to connect to Roon, I get the message: "Waiting for your Roon server", this is taking longer than normal etc. This happens if I try on my MacBook, iPhone or iPad. This is after years of seamless connection. Nothing has changed in my system, except updates to OS, iOS and Roon. I have followed the process here, tried switching off and on numerous times and, following advice in community threads, have toggled Roon and Qobuz off and on in Privacy, Local Networks and checked Firewall is off. My system is: ISP Community Fibre; router is Nokia G-2426G-A, hard wired to Innuos Zenith, in turn hard wired to Naim Uniti Nova streamer, driving PMC Twenty23 speakers. The Roon app is on a MacBook Air running an M1 chip and OS Sequoia 15.6 and an iPhone 16 Plus running iOS 26.4.2.

Hey @Dick_Kempson,

Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report!

Do you happen to know what version of innuoOS is your Zenith running? If it hasn’t updated to the more recent required version, Roon Server on the Zenith might not be able to communicate with the Roon remotes on your Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

Recently, our April 20 update requires Linux systems to support glibc 2.27 or later and OpenSSL 1.1.1. This is almost certainly what broke your setup. The good news and the critical caveat: Innuos confirmed that their systems running up-to-date software already include sufficiently recent library versions, specifically innuoOS 2.6.4 on MK2 systems and the latest available for MK3 and Next Gen systems.

For some next troubleshooting steps:

Check and update innuoOS on your Zenith - Go to the Innuos Sense app (in a browser, usually at your Zenith’s local IP address, or via the Sense app itself) and check for software updates. Make sure it is on the latest available innuoOS version.

We’ll be monitoring for your reply and results, thank you! :folded_hands:

Hi Benjamin, firstly thank you so much for your reassuring and truly helpful reply - it brought me a lot of confidence in this process and in the sense that, if something goes wrong around Roon, it isn’t the end of the world! Apologies for not replying sooner but following your advice has taken me all day, on and off. Partly Innuos, mostly me! The Innuos Sense app couldn’t locate my Zenith on the system, nor could something called Fing, though it found the IP address. Myinnuos.com did locate it and did fully identify it. It told me my Zenith was running something like 1.4.5 and I had to get to 3.4.2! (This was me not realising I had to manually upgrade and the regular Roon updates were not enough as I had foolishly assumed.) Then the massive update crashed twice before I found myself on an interface which showed me exactly how the process was working - don’t know how this happened?! I’m relaying this story, not because it’s of real interest(!) but because I suspect insight into how clumsy punters like me operate might be useful in you envisaging how much strife they can get into! Thank you once again for your help. It’s one of those unbalanced things: just a technical tweek for you but for me it’s my music back!

Hello @Dick_Kempson,

I am absolutely thrilled to hear that your music is back up and running! Please don’t apologize for the story—that kind of “clumsy” honesty is actually incredibly helpful. It serves as a great reminder for us that what looks like a routine library update on our end can be a massive undertaking for users managing complex hardware like an Innuos Zenith.

It sounds like you did a fantastic job navigating those manual updates and troubleshooting the network visibility issues—that is no small feat! Your Zenith is now perfectly aligned with the modern requirements needed for Roon, so you should be in great shape moving forward.

Since everything is resolved, I will go ahead and close this thread. Enjoy rediscovering your library, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever need a hand again!
