Describe the issue

Not connecting to the working wifi, only wired

Describe your network setup

It is a belgian telenet account, modem is doccis 3.1, there is a tplink switch after this modem (wired) and from here the are links to different rooms with different switches. A asus nuc with roon core is connected to one of them. I can access roon on all devices accept via wifi on my phone for example (also ipad). I have a tplink access point in the furtest part of the house for coverage. Here is the thing, once I walk further away from the telenet modem (is the wifi) and enter the tplink area, roon connects and works fine. Entering the telenet modem area roon disconnects.

Please see if your Telenet modem and your TPlink access point are both set to use the same subnet.

Hey @n.zorzetto2,

Thanks for writing in and for sharing your issue with us! I believe

@Geoff_Coupe is spot on correct with your next troubleshooting steps. Let us know if you’re able to review your network subnets - see if you’re able to disable all but one and ensure your Roon devices fall within this subnet.

Thank you! :folded_hands:

Hi @n.zorzetto2,

A quick way to ensure all these devices share a single subnet in your topology is to set the second TP-Link modem/router in Bridge mode. You can review the article @Geoff_Coupe shared for additional steps to ensure you have a single subnet.

If you’re still having issues, please try accessing your router settings admin page for the second TP-Link unit and ensuring that multicast forwarding is toggled on.

Please ensure this setting (multicast forwarding) is also toggled on in any other network settings for other routers/access points in this network.

This ensures Roon’s device discovery traffic gets forwarded properly when relying on WiFi.

Here’s a more thorough article outlining how you can optimize your network for Roon:
