Hello had used HQ Player and Roon for over a year without any problems when when the update mars 1 renderd my system obsolete. Now i have bought a new computer that is up to date and the music i once again flowning from my Roon Server to my HQ Player But with one minor glitch i cant control the volume from Roon. The volume in Roon indikates the volume set in HQ Player and changes when the volume weel is rotated i th HQ Player application, but i dose not work the other way. Wher should i start loocking for the problem? Thanks in advance.
Yes i do, but i still dose not work.
And you have this globe thing selected?
Can you share your HQP settings screenshot?
Hmmm everything looks good to me.
Have to wait for the guru @jussi_laako to see if there’s something else
Looks OK. Doesn’t look like it, but you don’t have “Direct SDM” enabled under “DSD Source Settings”?
No, I can change volume if i open the HQ Player application. Volume changes works from Hqpdcontrol app i android too. Its just from the Roon application am unable to change volume.
Also during playback? It doesn’t show any volume setting at all? (fixed device volume)
OK, seems like some Roon bug. The slider moves, but doesn’t result in volume change?
The slider moves, But it dos not result i any volum changes and when i relese the slider i bounces back to the original position.
Running latest version of Roon ?
And what version of HQP?

I am trying to see if I can uses the digital volume of HQPlayer in Roon, HQP is embedded version (same server as where the Roon Server installed).
HQP Embedded - 5.4.1
Roon Server - ver 2.0 (build 1368)
I set the HQP zone to using “device volume” and ensure “Direct DSD” is not check, no matter how i tried, restart HQPE, or restart Roon server, the volume is shown as “Fixed Volume” in Roon.
Any idea?
Does volume work from HQPlayer Client?
Also note that Roon will connect to HQPlayer for first time when you start playback from Roon. So if you change any such settings, those will be reflected in Roon only once playback has been started once after changing the settings.
felt like knocking my head, yes once it start playing the volume control shown…previously i was just changing setting hoping to see that it works, but it works only once u start playback.
many thanks @jussi_laako
