I can't create a back up location on mu windows pc
Describe your network setup
I have a Grimm MU2 and I want to create a back up location non my windows pc. I had it working but now connection was load and I don't manage to set it up again
you appear to be using the wrong format for the network address. The format should be just \\<hostname>\<sharename> - you don’t put \users\jmoo\ in there as well.
You don’t appear to have filled in the gebruikersnaam and wachtwoord fields. You need to.
The following error may be related to the DNS issue in your LAN. Please try using the IP address instead of the host domain name. Please let us know how it goes with the IP address?
So in your first screenshot your shared folder name appears to be Roon, whereas in your second screenshot you are using Roonbackup2. And in neither case do you appear to be using a gebruikersnaam and wachtwoord, which, I repeat, you need to do.
Please review what you are trying to do here. Have you created Roon and/or Roonbackup2 as shared folders using valid Windows credentials?
Sorry I misread your message. First of qall in the past I never had to fill in gebruikersnaam en wachtwoord. I’m already using Roon for about 6 years.
Now I filled in the shared folder. and also my username and password but I’m not able to create a back up folder.
I made another shared location with valid Windows credentials.
Which username do I have to fill in name on the computer? and paasword? Is this password of my Windows account? or the pincode I use for logging in on my pc?
I’m sorry. Normally I don’t have problems with computers but this is strange. And again before I didn’t have to give a name and password. to make a bak uo folder
See the article here (it’s the same procedure for a Backup folder):
As the article says, you do NOT use your Microsoft Account, but a Local Account. And the password you use is whatever you have given to your Local Account.
Finally I succeeded. First I had to create a local account which I didn’t had and then I had to use the ip-adres of the PC with the shared folder. Thanks a lot for your kind help. Anyway this was the first time since 2019 that I had to use a local account with a name and a password. Thanks again.
