I am quite new to the service I have server that only every once in a while is seen by Roon.
It can take some time 15 minutes and then all of a sudden it finds my server and I get access.
The next problem I have is after getting access to my server not getting sound to come out of my system I’m quite lost here needing help.
Hi @Evan_Wang
I’m just a forum user like yourself.
I’ve popped this into the support category and tweaked your threads title.
If you could fill out the below support template it would help more.
Thanks

Description of Issue
Ok situation update. I’ve worked out why no audio is coming through the system and have fixed that. My issue now is I get roon going when it finds my playback designs mpt 8 but drops out. I then have to restart the unit for roon to find it again.
Are you using the Dream Transport as the Roon Server? If you could fill out the information that Menzies posted, that will help give us an idea of your setup and situation.
Ok, sorry for not providing the information requested earlier.
Yes, I’m using the MPT-8 as the server it has the roon core option installed. I have a hardwide ethanet cable coming Coming directly from the router to the MPD-8. I’m using a cable service. The router is a technicolour EPC3940L. I have a separate lumin U1 streamer connected to the MPT-8 via a USB cable. The number of tracks on the hard drive is around 4000.
Hopefully, this covers all the information need…
Many thanks, Shane.
From the Networking Best Practices:
Technicolor Routers
We’ve seen that some technicolor routers cause Roon to have difficulties communicating to networked endpoints. This can be resolved by adding exceptions for Roon and RAATServer to the router’s IPv6 firewall settings.
Hi @Evan_Wang,
Thank you for reaching out. Please try adding Roon’s processes your router’s exceptions list.
Note that the MPT-8 is not an approved Roon Core, so we can not officially support this issue. I’ve reassigned to #tinkering where many helpful users can assist. Thanks!
@connor, I see that the MPT-8 has a Roon Core option, which turns it into a Roon Core server.
What do you mean it is not an approved Roon Core? Is there a list somewhere of the computers we have to run Roon Core on? I thought we could use whatever worked.
I find this particularly surprising because Playback Designs is a “Roon partner”.
We can, but OEMs installing it are often in violation of t&c and use underspecced hardware which results in a poor experience and more support issues. The vendor needs to have a deal in place with Roon I guess to allow it. They did withdraw the whole Roon partner thing for cores a while back. I also think they are trying to get 3rd parties to adopt and officially license RoonOS like the new Mytech BB2 does. Danny mentioned about partners using it in upcoming stuff and this is one.
