“Unable to load library”

Please help:

Late 2012 with Mac OS Catalina
Version 10.15.7
Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel core i5
Memory: 16 GB1600 MHz DDR3
1 TB storage SATA disk

I have a MAC MINI, the Mac mini is connected to a buffalo external hard drive, those are connected to a PS audio direct stream DAC. I had an “Unable to load library” issue

I discovered that the external hard drive was disconnected, that is the reason why Roon could not load my library, which is good news. That means all my play lists are still OK.

QUESTIONS
I installed Roon on the Mac mini, and Roon loaded my library without the playlists. Now that I have my original external hard drive with the playlist, do you advice to delete Roon from the Mac mini?

Sorry about the lengthy message

Hi @Josafat_Galindo,

It sounds like you created a new RoonServer instance after deleting your original database, and then scanned the same local storage location.

If that’s the case, then your current database won’t contain any of your playlists or settings that you’d originally curated within Roon. To retain those, you’ll need to restore a Backup of your RoonServer database.

If you don’t have a Backup available, you’ll unfortunately need to either re-add or recreate your Playlists in Roon.

Hello Connor:

I hope not to give you more work than you already have.

I hope this tread will help some of us.

By the external hard drive ( NAS) being disconnected, when I deleted files, they were deleted from the Mac Mini.

But now, I have my original set up with the NAS hard drive AND the one I installed on the mac mini.

What I like to know is: should I delete Roon from the Mac mini, the icon from the desk top? iPod, and iPhone? ( they were working before)
Turn off Mac mini

re-connect the external hard drive?
boot the Mac again, and may be, download Roon again, because now there is no icon on the desktop to launch Roon?

What I think is that Roon, along with all the play lists is still intact in the External hard drive.

If I have to re-install Roon again on the external Hard drive, will Roon let me choose the location?
Or should I open the external hard drive, thank download Roon?

I hope to make sense.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

I appreciate your time

Hi @Josafat_Galindo,

You shouldn’t have to delete anything - I believe as Connor mentioned, performing a restore from a saved backup should suffice to restore your prior Roon settings and library. Here’s the link again :

Let me know if restoring a backup helps! :+1:
