Describe the issue

Good day,

I have a problem that I just can't seem to find a solution for, even with Google search. I have Roon Lifetime, Tidal, and a NUC—what more could one want? Well, all the codecs, please.

I often get the "missing codecs" message when trying to play songs. I've seen plenty of tutorials on how to fix this. I have downloaded the file, but I can't find my /Data/codecs directory anywhere.

Through the IP of my NUC and filebrowser, I've accessed the menu of my Roon/NUC. There, I see a web interface with options like Reinstall and Reset, as well as some network information, but no tab or option to access my Data directory.

Does anyone have any idea how I can find my Data directory so that I can install my codec file?

Thank you in advance.

You use Windows File Explorer or the MacOS Finder to access the data directory - you don’t use the Web Administration Interface. See:

Thanks for the response.

I did indeed type the IP address into File Explorer and then I end up on the web interface shown in the photo.

From the text in the link you showed me, I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.

It is working fine now.
I found the solution from another post with hte same problem.

Edit: arghh…it wont let me copy/ past the ffmpeg file.
I get the message “the file name you specified is not valid or too long”
Any tips?

Just for the information.
I now can acces Rock trough Network → Rock → Data → Codecs
If i try to connect to Rock using the IP adres typing in file-eplorer i still dont see the Data dir.

You’re probably typing the IP address using the web format. Don’t do this - use the File Explorer format. For example, my ROCK/NUC is at 192.168.178.111, so I type \\192.168.178.111 into File Explorer and get this:

Have you downloaded the tar file and uncompressed it twice to get the ffmpeg file? See:

Again thank you for the suport.
It seems that copy/past from an USB stick was the problem.
When i first copy/paste it to my desktop and from there i copy/paste it to Rock everything went fine
The codec is there , everything should be fine now
