Unable to locate ROCK in Windows network (ref#AYUXGD)

What’s happening?

· Other – My issue isn’t listed above

Describe the issue

ROCK cannot be found in the Windows network

Describe your network setup

I use a Intel NUC an Netgear R9000 Router and a 24 Port unmanaged Netgear switch.

When connecting to the network drive, ROCK cannot be found even though it is connected to the switch and is working.

There may be two issues at play here:

  1. Changes that Microsoft has made to security means that it is no longer possible to access Nucleus or ROCK folders. Then the Group Policy Editor of Windows or Powershell can be used to work around this. See the article referenced below.
  2. Windows File Explorer has a habit of not finding non-Windows devices in your network until it’s told to do so. So typing \\rock\ in the address field (note: NOT the Search field) of File Explorer will kick Windows into displaying it again. In this situation, mapping a Windows drive to a folder in the ROCK/NUC will pin it permanently in File Explorer as a drive on your PC.

Hi Geoff,

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, it still doesn’t work even after I changed the settings.

So typing \\rock\ in the address field also dont works i get “unknown error 0x80004005”

\\192.168.0.78\ROCK\ same error

I have an Intel NUC with ROCK installed, but it is not recognized.
I can’t log in to the NUC because the ROCK software doesn’t allow it.
So how am I supposed to install an update from Intel?

I have also enabled SMB1.0/CIFS file sharing support in Windows

SMB2 is also enabled. I don’t know what else to do.

Michael

Hi now it works i forget the run the two commands in powershell

Set-SmbClientConfiguration -RequireSecuritySignature $false

Set-SmbClientConfiguration -EnableInsecureGuestLogons $true

now the command \\rock\ in File Explorer works
as well the same applies to connecting a network drive in Explorer. Example: r:\\rock\data
