Welcome to the forum! Have you been able to set up manual port forwarding for your R9000? The below guide from Netgear provides instructions on how to do so. Let us know if you have any issues, thanks!
Hi @anon15113244
Initially, I run the Roon Server on my windows laptop, everything went well. I have bought my new Mac mini 4 recently, so I switch to run the Roon Server on the Mac mini. Unfortunately I can’t connect the Roon Server outside my home. I didn’t set or change any setting on my router. The diagnostics data is as below:
{
“ipv4_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“45.aaa.bbb.ccc”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“null”,“router_external_ip”:“null”},
“natpmp_autoconfig”: {“server_ip”:“192.168.1.1”,“found_natpmp”:true},
“upnp_autoconfig”: {“server_ip”:“192.168.1.1”,“found_upnp”:true,“error”:“<s:Envelope xmlns:s="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/\” s:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/\“><s:Body><s:Fault>s:ClientUPnPError<UPnPError xmlns="urn:schemas-upnp-org:control-1-0">718ConflictInMappingEntry</s:Fault></s:Body></s:Envelope>”}
}

I have followed your instructions to making some setting in my router, I use the port number is “55002”, but it still can’t use ARC. You know initially I can run ARC when I use my windows laptop, but when switched to Mac mini, it doesn’t work now. All the setting in my router remained unchanged. After using the forward port service in my router, the new diagnostics data is as below. Please help me to figure it out. Thank you!
{
“ipv4_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“45.aaa.bbb.ccc”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“null”,“router_external_ip”:“null”},
“status”: “status”: MultipleNatFound

My network is quite simple. My router connects to the modem, which is provided by the Australia National Broadband Network, and my ISP is called EXETEL. My router connects to the modem, not using pppoe, I get dynamical IP from my ISP. I have to mention, under the same network setting, I used my windows laptop, I can use ARC outside home, but when I switch the windows to Mac, I lost the ARC function. So I think, maybe it is not the setting about the network, which is related to Mac system, but I am a rookie in using Mac, I can’t figure out the deep reason why Mac can’t work all with Roon. I am so confused.
My modem is a purely modem provided by NBN (Australia national broadband network), and I use my own router connects to the modem. My ISP only provides internet service.
When I use windows, I use wifi to connect to my router, but after switching to Mac, I use ethernet cable. You are right.
And I also checked the Mac firewall, which is off. So it is very tricky.
I have used port checker which you provided to check my 55000 and 55002 port. It said the port is closed. How can I open it? Since I am not good at debugging network setting. Could you please give me an explicit solution? Many thanks.
Now my Roon is running on Mac mini, the ip address is 192.168.1.12. I have tried both port 55000 and 55002 in Roon, ARC still can’t be used. I don’t do any setting in my router either when running Roon on windows or on Mac.
Thanks for the additional details, and thank you for the help so far @anon15113244! As a next step, let’s see if setting your Mac IP settings from ‘rotating’ to fixed may help. One of the myriad network security changes introduced with MacOS 15.x was MAC address randomization.
I recommend navigating to your Network settings (WiFi → Details) and checking whether the Mac in question is relying on a Fixed, not a rotating, Private WiFi Address.
I have tried to fix the ip, but nothing changes, malfunction remains the same.
Now I switch back to my windows system running Roon. To my surprising, it occurs the same diagnostics data as I use Mac system. I will follow @anon15113244 ‘s instructions to check with my ISP to confirm whether my port is blocked by them.
The ARC is working with my windows laptop now. I return the Mac mini4 today, because the Mac OS I think which doesn’t work well with Roon. After couples days running, Mac will lost the connection with my DAC, even I reinstall Roon, it remains the same, only reinstalling the Mac OS can fix. It is quite annoying. So I give it up, and turn back to windows. Windows seems more stable.
