RoonServer runs in the background and is independent of the graphical client. To turn it off, go to the notification section on the taskbar, locate the roon icon and right click, there should be a Quit option. This is also where you can turn off/on whether the server starts up on login.
@Rugby is correct here, RoonServer runs in the background, so you would need to exit out of this to reinstall Roon, so please give that a try. If there’s any specific issue you’re trying to reinstall Roon to resolve, please let us know more details so that we can assist with this as well, thanks!
To fully restart Roon Server, please make sure you’re quitting the server itself — not just the control interface. Closing the Roon control window is not enough, as the server continues to run in the background.
Here’s how to properly quit Roon Server on Windows:
Look for the Roon icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of your screen).
If you don’t see it immediately, click the “^” arrow to reveal hidden icons.
Right-click on the Roon icon.
Select “Quit Roon Server” from the menu.
Once done, you can relaunch the Roon Server or reboot your system to ensure a fresh start.
