Roon version: 2.65 OS: MacOS Sequoia 15.5 Router: Synology MR2200AC ISP: Bel Air Internet
I've already gone into the router settings and added port forwarding for port 55000 (both private and public) with protocol TCP. This is the diagnostic info Roon is still displaying:
The 502 Network Error in the diagnostics indicates that traffic is not successfully routing to the Roon Server. Since you have already added a manual port forwarding rule for port 55000, we need to verify the following network variables to isolate the block:
Port Forwarding: Please provide a screenshot of the specific port forwarding rule configured in the Synology router interface to verify the IP address and port alignment.
UPnP: Is UPnP explicitly disabled in the router settings? Leaving UPnP active while simultaneously using a manual port forwarding rule often causes routing conflicts.
CGNAT: Does Bel Air Internet utilize Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT)? You can check this by comparing the WAN IP address shown in your router's administrative interface against your actual public IP (checked via a site like
http://whatismyip.com
). If the two addresses are different, you are behind CGNAT.
If your ISP does utilize CGNAT and cannot assign you a dedicated public IP address, standard port forwarding will not work. In that scenario, configuring a mesh VPN solution like Tailscale is the required alternative to bypass the network restriction.
It looks like there is CGNAT. I’ll look into Tailscale.
I would be content to merely be able to access the whole library from my phone while at home/on the same wifi as the roon server, and then just download certain playlists to listen to while disconnected from the server. Is there any way to do that, or does it have to be through ARC? It seems like a pretty basic functionality that I shouldn’t need all this rigamarole to be able to do.
