Tell us what's going on

· I am trially roon trying to stream from my PC to my Denon ACV X6700H receiver. I have not used Heos or Airplay before but you would not think it would be rocket science. I have use chat GTP and spent about one and a half hours trying to get airplay to work with roon. Software is up to date. I have altered all settings according to chat GTP recommendation, enabling what I should. I have now completely turned off Windows firewall. I have switched devices on and off to no avail. Roon server and RAAT server appear as icons on monitor but all to no avail.

Tell us about your home network

· Not using a vpn both my pc and AVR receiever are connected by ethernet. If I do not get help from a human very soon it will be bye bye cancel subscription. You have 15 minutes

Hi @johndalyneedham,

Thanks for taking the time to write in and share your report! I’m sure we can get your playback-related issues solved.

You mention your devices are connected via ethernet, is this directly connected to your primary router? If you could please provide a bit more information around your network setup, that would be helpful.

Are you able to get audio to play from the system output of your windows 10 machine?

From a fresh Roon Server diagnostic analysis, Roon seems to be performing “Background Audio Analysis” (calculating loudness/LUFS and waveforms). This is an intensive process.

If your Roon Server (the computer running the software) is working too hard to analyze these files, it can’t maintain the “heartbeat” or the steady stream of data required by your Denon device. Denon devices (especially via HEOS or AirPlay) are very sensitive to network/buffer timing.

Let’s see if we can throttle the Analysis:

  • Go to Settings > Library.
  • Find Background Audio Analysis Speed.
  • Change it to "Throttled" or "Off". (You can turn it back to "Fast" overnight when you aren't listening).
Check the "Spinner":
  • In the top right corner of your Roon window, do you see a small spinning circle? Click it. It will likely show "Adding Music to Library" or "Analyzing Files." Wait for this to finish before starting a long listening session.
Check Disk Sleep:
  • Since your music is on E:\, make sure that drive isn't set to "go to sleep" in your Windows/Mac power settings. If the drive spins down, Roon will drop the playback when it hits the next track.
Thank you!

Hi @johndalyneedham,

It sounds like you lost most of your trial time with Roon to troubleshooting, which is frustrating. Please allow us to extend your trial so we can help resolve this connectivity problem and allow you try out Roon uninterrupted.

We’ll let you know as soon as we’ve processed the trial extension and you’re able to log back into Roon.

From there, please share a screenshot of the Settings → Audio page and we’ll proceed with next steps.

Hi @johndalyneedham,

We wanted to gently ping this thread to check in since we haven’t seen a response.

Please let us know if we can assist with configuring this receiver.

The background audio analysis speed was already set to throttled.

However there is a spinning wheel in that section and it seems frozen at 18013/19214

The problem is I simply can’t access roon On my Denon X6700H receiver reomote I click settings then network then Airplay and all I get is the Airplay toggle on of off option. It is of course set to “on”, but where the h*ll is Roon? You would think it would be easy ?

Because there is no Roon smart app it seems the only way I can stream is via Airplay, not that I can even do that, but Airplay “typically streams audio at a quality of 16-bit/44.1 kHz " I am most definitely out

The Denon X6700H AVR is only shown as “Roon tested” on the Roon Partner page - it is not “Roon Ready”, so AirPlay is the only option that Roon can use to send audio streams over the network.

Denon Roon Ready Devices - Compatible Audio Equipment

The only way to get higher resolution audio streaming on this unit would be via the HDMI or optical inputs.

Hi @johndalyneedham,

@Geoff_Coupe is correct with the above information, certainly let us know if you have any additional questions!
