can i attach the log file here?
Who knows. It clearly wasn’t up to date in the first place.
You can copy-paste parts into a post, but not attach files. If you upload it to a cloud drive you can post a link though
This may be silly, but have you tried checking the sonic transporters web UI to see if the server is actually running?
I don’t actually own a sonic transporter I just know someone who does.
Hi @the_beginner,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue.
You can upload your log file here for us to take a look at. We can see if there are any errors showing there.
I can tell you that our records don’t show your SGC device so likely something either happened with the set up or there’s a networking issue here.
yes ui checked OK
Hi Daniel,
I have submitted the log file!
cheers,
Paul.
this is the status
Couple things to check (while we wait for the logs to be looked at):
What is the IP of the SGC ‘ST’? (is it showing up in your router IP table?)
What is the IP of your laptop?
Are the IPs on the same subnet? (first three numbers in the IP address, like this 192.168.01.XXX)
Have you checked the laptop firewall to make sure that the appropriate programs (not just IP addresses) are added as exceptions?
see this KB:
Can your phone or another device “see” the SGC ‘ST’ server? (Roon app on the phone or tablet?)
Also, have you tried selecting the “Select a different Roon Server” option to see if that helps?
And I don’t see it in the post, but have you tried rebooting everything? (router, switches, ST, etc)
Hey @the_beginner,
In addition to what @bearFNF has suggested above, I can also see that you’re running a different build on your SGC. You’re running the earlyaccess version of Roon on the SGC, while your other devices are all running the production version of Roon.
You have two options here - either migrate the rest of your Roon remotes over to earlyaccess, or migrate your SGC back to the production version of Roon. Here’s more detail on how to both:
I hope this helps! We’ll be on standby for your reply.
yes sgc showing up
my laptop is showing in router too
yes same subnet
ip addresses added to firewall, but programs no!
sgc added to DMZ.
Yes i can “see” the SGC ‘ST’ server" on laptop
no i haven’t tried to select different roon server as the only option is laptop.
yes rebooted everything more than once.
cheers!
I am putting SGC back to the production version of Roon
Don’t do this. It’s not necessary and represents a significant security weakness.
If all devices are on the same subnet (first three numbers of the ip address are all the same - e.g 192.168.0…) then no open ports are necessary for local network Roon use.
Only if you use Roon Arc from outside of your own network, might you need to open a single port - even that is not necessary if you can run Tailscale on the Roon Server machine.
new problem: i connected a USB drive with music files to the sonic transporter but i don;t know where the USB drive is or the music files in the system? can anyone help?
OK! will change setting.
Ok yes same subnet.
ROONARC?
Tailscale?
cheers!
Go to Roon > Settings > Storage. The new USB device should be listed. Select it and click Add Folder. Edit: wrong order of events, see two posts down)
Normally all music from all storage devices is integrated into one view in Roon. If you only want to see the content of a particular disk, go to Focus > Storage Location and choose the desired one. This works in most views like My Albums or My Artists
"Go to Roon > Settings > Storage. The new USB device should be listed. "
not listed?
can’t find “go to Focus > Storage”?
cheers!
Sorry, I gave the wrong order of actions. Should have been:
- Go to Roon > Settings > Storage
- Click Add Folder
- The new USB device should be listed on the left. Select it and click Select This Folder
Scroll right (maybe twice; it’s possible to change the order of the columns. With touch displays and at least some trackpads you can also swipe right/left (e.g., on MacBook it’s a 2-finger swipe))
