Describe the issue

I have Roon installed on my desktop PC and on my new dedicated server (Small Green Computer sonicTransporter i5 Gen3). I am unable to uninstall Roon from my PC. When I go to the app and click on "Uninstall" I get a pop-up stating "Please quit all instances of RoonServer before continuing." When I click "OK" in the dialog box, nothing happens. I can click "Cancel" to close the dialog box, but then I can't uninstall Roon. Please note that I am not connected to either RoonServer while I am trying this. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Describe your network setup

Fiber Optic via BAM, with provider supplied 10GHz modem/router, LHY Ethernet switch.

If you installed the whole Roon and not just the client option on the PC then you will have a server running in the background. You need to turn it off to uninstall. Go to the notification section of the taskbar, find the Roon icon, right click and choose Quit, at the same time you might as well make sure the “Launch at startup” option is unchecked.

Big Dan, thanks for your quick reply. I followed your suggestion and attached is a screenshot of what I get. I am not able to “quit” Roon. Any other thoughts?

You are rightclicking the launcher icon for the Roon control (GUI) app.

You should be clicking the little upward arrow on your left desktop, which signifies the collapsed part of the Windows notification area. It should then open little menu where you will probably find the RoonServer icon, signifying a running background application. Rightclick this one and you should find Quit in its menu.

Hey @Don_Gibson,

Good to see you on the community again!

You’re in good hands here - @Suedkiez has shared a screenshot of the proper place to stop Roon Server from running.

That said, you aren’t required to uninstall Roon on your PC with your new dedicated Server! Let me know your thinking here and if you have any other questions. Congrats on the new sonicTransporter!

Suedkiez, your suggested process worked! Thank you very much! Have a great evening.
