Unable to update Roon server on NUC with Roon OS 2.1 (ref#XH8FWH)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· Running Roon server on ROCK intel Nuc based system. Unable to update to latest version. Running System: Roon Server version 2.62 (Build 1641) Production, Roon OS version 2.1 (build 271) production, OS Version Roon 2.1 (build 271) production, HW: Intel NUC NUC10i7FNH I7-10710U UHD Graphic 32GB RAM, 252 GB SSD

Tell us about your home network

· Several networks, network is not the issue, never has been. FYI, running ROCK with Tailscale (Which by the way is outdated on your OS build)

(Edited, misread the original post.)

You can try going to ROCK‘s admin web page and click the Reinstall button. This usually fixes this issue.

This reinstalls the OS and Roon Server together, and thereby updates to the latest version. It does not touch your database, so it’s safe.

If you get an „exit code“ error number there, post the number. This gives more hints about the cause.

This has been discussed before and none of the later releases are relevant for Roon. The security issues that were fixed don’t apply to Roon’s Tailscale configuration.

Thank you for the Tailscale clarification. Regarding the update same behavior. I’ve proceeded with the suggested reinstalation (twice actually) and not only does it show up on the same version of when I reported the ticket, but receive exactly the same indication via roon client GUI (Update available, unable to update).

I’ve uploaded logs (ZIP with several logs) to https://workdrive.zohoexternal.com/collection/8i5239cc05950ac07456889838d9319545a82/external

Thank you for your support

That’s very strange. Something for official support, I guess

Hi @Helio_Jesus,

Thank you for taking the time to upload logs and we appreciate your patience in awaiting an official response here.

Please first ensure a reliable DNS server is assigned in your router settings so that RoonServer can reliably resolve the update server URLs.

Do you have a reliable Backup of your Roon database?

If so, please try the following:

  • Stop RoonServer from running in ROCK’s WebUI
  • Navigate to your ROCK’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old”
  • Restart the RoonServer in the WebUI to generate a new Roon database folder
  • On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database

We’ll watch for your response.

Hi @Helio_Jesus,

Our servers seem to indicate the ROCK remains on an outdated build. Have you tried the database refresh per the steps above? Please share a screenshot of the RoonOS web admin page when you have a chance.

We’ll watch for your response. Thank you!

Hey, @Helio_Jesus,

Just checking in on this before the thread auto-closes. Were you able to try the database refresh on the ROCK and share a screenshot of the RoonOS web admin page? If you have any update, let us know when you can, thanks.
