Unboxing Chord 2go

Thanks, all good now

Makes sense, I will change mine to “No MQA Support” which always sounded right.

I wonder why the Roon default is wrong.

@Kevin_Wynne, that was me posting on Head-fi about my dead 2go. A replacement came through from the dealer. Which means I’m now on my third 2go. I rejected the first one as it was not new when it arrived, and then the second one died suddenly. Ironically, of all 3, the first one was the most reliable.

Even the most recent one which I received last week suffers from a lot of the documented issues - most annoyingly for me, the airplay dropoffs and the sudden shutdowns and inability to consistently restart it.

I am eagerly awaiting the release of the new firmware to see whether it improves the user experience.

Not had much luck have you? Based on nothing much more than a cynical mind, I actually wonder if this product was rush released by Chord just before they new the whole Covid thing was going to blow up big time.
The firmware release is dragging its heels a bit. I got the impression it was imminent after the Gofigure app firmware release was rolled out, and that’s been available since the beginning of the week.

Gofigure and 2go Firmware Update

Via an update to the Gofigure app and 2go firmware, today we will be optimising your device experience. Our updates include requested new features and bug fixes. We recommend that when you next attempt to use the device, that you take 10 minutes to update the app and firmware.

This is the first major firmware update since the release of the device and is named V1.0. The update contains a number of audio fixes, a major MPD update to V0.21.23 (protocol V0.21.11), AirPlay enhancements and numerous Wi-Fi improvements including more advanced network switching.

Updating 2go’s firmware is easy and is initiated from within Gofigure. The process takes around 10 minutes to complete.

Not all improvements to your 2go experience require a firmware update. Because of this, you will periodically need to update your version of Gofigure.

In today’s Gofigure release (iOS V2.05 or Android 1.2.92) playlists will now refresh when you open the app, Wi-Fi switching is improved and we have added some additional requested radio stations. Included within the release are a number of bug fixes, which we would like to thank the Head-Fi community for assisting us with.

To download the latest version, head to the App Store on your iOS device or the Google Play Store on your Android device.

Updated 2go to the new firmware (V1.0). Update went smoothly. Nothing notable so far, we’ll see if there’s a reduction in WiFi glitches.

I’ve updated as well but Roon still Report v0.91 for the 2Go while the GoFigure app says I’m on 1.00 now. Doesn’t really bother me but that mismatch is a bit weird. Also, 2Go is still reported as uncertified in Roon.

2go with firmware v 1.00 still has very touchy WiFi reception. If works great for weeks, and then suddenly it starts failing repeatedly for a while. Looking at Roon logs and WiFi load (with Ubiquiti’s WiFiman app), Roon is losing contact with the 2go, but WiFi power and channel use does not seem remarkably worse than before. I suspect that the 2go has basically two modes: WiFi is perfect, or WiFi is useless. I’m starting to think that I need to start talking with Chord about this. My WiFi setup is pretty solid and has worked beautifully with everything else: Ubiquiti AmpliFi HD with 3 mesh points, one of which was less than 2m from the 2go when the failures started.

Hello,
the simpliest way to make the 2Go brigde working with Roon is to use “GoFigure” on ios or Androïd, and set the Roon mode in configuration tab of GoFigure application. You’ll see your 2Go in Roon Ready tab (audio configuration). NB : 2Go can also be used with other services like Audirvana aso… they used not the same configuration. It also works with Roon in this mode but as a simple Airplay service, not the best solution here.
2Go + Hugo 2 in this mode is an exellent solution to get the best of your music with this gear.

Can be interesting for those who use 2Go + Hugo2 in the home hi-fi system.

Very stylish setup : +1: !
Interested in seeing the broader setup. Also colorful RCA cables, which brand ?
My Hugo/2Go will be arriving at the end of the week, still thinking about the setup…

Greetings,
LD

Thanks) Cables are 150$ range, dont remember the brand but sound not bad for me. This small device is very power capricious. I used several different power adapters (2-5Amp) and only one works fine! Others make the charging led flash!(( Setup is trusty JBL 100 Classic + Technics SU-G700. I have nothing to compare with but I like the sound. Actually a bit “specific” setup)) Old school speakers + fully digital amp + super digital player)))
