Unexpected change to yellow AAC signal path from Tidal (ref#BF1IPK)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· My signal path turns yellow AAC suddenly. From my Tidal account it seems the signal is normal and lossless.

Tell us about your home network

· A mac mini as core and a devialet expert 200 Pro amplifier.

Please post a screenshot of your whole signal path (click on the yellow dot to open the signal path)

Ok. It’s already downloaded as AAC. Go to Roon Settings > Services > Tidal, and check what the Max Quality is set to.

Hi Suedkiez,

Thanks a lot. I did what you said, was in low and I turned to max and, that´s it.

Problem solved.

Do you mind if I ask you how to manage the sound quality set up in Roon?

Never touch it and I don´t know if I´m getting all I can from Roon.

Sound Quality

Good but weird  Did your Tidal subscription perhaps lapse recently and did you renew it?

Exactly. After the renewal that happens.

Is it possible just check my roon setup? I could send a screenshot and you´ll find if there´s something to improve. I´m not an expert in streaming audio. My system is very simple: A Mac mini as roon core, a digital amp (devialet) and a pair of speakers. I just use Tidal and some times some files ripped from rares CDs to my Mac mini, that´s all.

Sorry for the trouble.

Ok, there was a recent other case this happened after a subscription lapse. (I think this thread got removed because of code of conduct violations).

I guess Roon might treat this like a new subscription and I don’t know if it can know what the subscription type is, and in this case defaults to the safest, lowest one. (I’m just a fellow user).

Maybe this can be improved in Roon to restart the subscription with the previous setting. Your thread here is in Support and official staff should see it, but it was set to „resolved“ after you changed the quality setting. I don’t think it’s really resolved before support staff looks at possible improvements in Roon, so I will ask the forum moderators to remove the „resolved“ status

It’s still there [marked as solved], but there is work for Roon to do … see this reply from Roon.

Oh ok, didn’t find it in Feedback

Yeah that’s what I thought here, too.

Hi @Rogerio_Boldt.

Glad to hear you were able to resolve this by upping the quality in Roon Settings → Services. As mentioned by others, we are looking into a case where a user’s TIDAL account expired, so can you please confirm whether something similar happened on your end? Did you TIDAL subscription expire and you renewed it recently?

I asked this

Exactly Noris.

Thanks for the confirmation @Rogerio_Boldt! Our team agree’s this is less than ideal behavior, and so we have a ticket in to make an adjustment here.

Other than that, happy listening! :musical_notes::white_check_mark:
