What device is your Roon server running on? It looks like this doesn’t have the MP3 codec installed.

Windows 10 home

It works fine sometimes for hours so if i was mising a codec or something i’d imagine it would never run. Here is some of the log file…

[zoneplayer/raat] Too many dropouts (>3s dropped out in the last 30s). Killing stream

[zoneplayer/raat] Too many dropouts (>3s dropped out in the last 30s). Killing stream

Can you play in of the affected MP3 files using Windows media player?

Hi - Sorry i’m not following what you are asking?

This is an internet radio stream that plays just fine on my BlueNode via its own native app or over airplay. I’ve had it playing just fine from Roon but today for some reason it stops after playing for a few mins. I then restart it and it comes back on only to stop again.

It can’t be the Wifi because it plays flawlessly using NodeOS which streams over the Wifi. So seems something between my Roon server running for now on my beefy gaming desktop that isn’t running any other software.

Appreciate any help!

Hi @David_Rosner1 ,

Can you try to play the stream on another zone as well? The other zone doesn’t necessarily need to be connected/actually playing music (it can be muted for example). I am curious, when the stream stops on the Bluesound, does it also stop on the other zone, or just on the Bluesound?

Also, we have seen users have a better experience in the past if they change their Router’s DNS servers from the ISP provided ones to Cloudflare DNS, Quad9 or Google DNS. I would give this a try in case there are DNS issues on your ISP’s end.

Hi - well my other zones are AirPlay and Roon isn’t working on those due to some internal Roon bug being worked on. If it helps I do stream from my phone to my Jbl charge at same time in another Roon and no drop outs. And just by coincidence I setup a local dns server with Google dns as back up lately.

Hey @David_Rosner1,

I’d go ahead and set up a direct ethernet connection to your primary router and see if the issue reproduces. If it does, share the track name, and then please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

Thank you!

Ok I won’t be home for a week so please don’t close the ticket.

I never get drop outs using Blue OS…is it normal to have room WiFi issues when other platforms didn’t?

Hi @David_Rosner1,
Don’t worry threads automatically close after 2 weeks of no activity so you should be fine.

It can be Roon is especially sensitive to packet loss so it’s not uncommon to see other services working on Wi-Fi while Roon doesn’t.
