Description of the issue

These two very different albums are “stuck” as a single release, and i can’t seem to make Roon realize they’re nowhere near same/similar…

They are not grouped as being the same release as it shows only one in your group. It would be both if it was seeing them as the same it’s just offering up that there is another version. Looking at it in MusicBrainz it’s a separate release. AllMusic doesn’t have it so maybe why it’s getting it mixed together one for @joel

There’s one Remix release here that has not been tagged as a [remix] and this is just the US data…

Okay, so what do i do if i want them both visible without seeing all duplicates in my library?

What is in the three dot menu of the remix version? IIRC there’s sometimes the option to remove from group (?)

It’s not grouped look at his screen grabs, just one album in group. Below it’s saying also in his library. So cannot be ungrouped.

MusicBrainz lists them as separate release groups. What’s actually used for matching MusicBrainz or AllMusic? I thought MusicBrainz was used to identity and allmusic the extra reviews etc.
