NUC i5, 32G memory external USB 2T drive. OS 2.1 build 271, server 2.0 build 1462.
Mac client has issue loading library error. Reset of Roon Database and Settings in browser, then start Roon app on Mac and picking Rock server (due to address change) and add folder on Mac client (Setup) gives artist, albums, etc. after a couple of hours but there is missing codec on Web page so no music output from CD (mpeg) formatted files. Add ffmpeg from suggested location to \rock\data\codec directory via Win 10 PC and reboot Rock. Start Roon app on Mac and get library error.
I don’t see how adding the codecs would make any difference, but I do suspect the rebooting of ROCK is triggering the error.
To troubleshoot, you could repeat your recovery, get ROCK running again and then after a while just reboot ROOK (without loading the codecs) … I have a feeling it will fail once more.
I suspect Roon will report a library corruption again, which is indicative of a failing SSD (or RAM but more likely the SSD).
I hope this helps to get a little closer to root cause, if not Roon support team will be along to provide their help.
Thanks for writing in and sharing your issue! @Carl is absolutely steering you in the right direction here.
From your account page, we’re seeing a fresh ROCK install on your Nucleus One, is this something you’ve done recently? Running ROCK on your Nucleus isn’t advised, you’ll need to get the NucleusOS re-flashed if this is the case. You’ll need to reach out to your dealer directly in this case.
I’m working on this problem for a friend that I introduced to Roon and gifted my Rock to him. His Roon id is Glenn. If you can review his installation this is where the problems are occurring. I am completely stumped.
If he needs to work directly with you then I will get him into the labs area.
Hi,
We have gotten the Rock to start working again with the correct codec but we are loading only a few files at a time and giving the system time to work. Also stopped the background analysis to help out the NUC. Finding corrupt files in the Skipped area but will continue to work back to where we started. Will also do a backup pronto.
Thanks for the update. Yes, Roon does take some time to ingest the library, but it sounds like Roon is on the right track importing. Please let us know if things still work as expected once the import completes or if you have any further issues, thanks!
This is Glenn Crawford, my friend Martin Booker has been trying to help me configure my Roon Server, we have spent hours and it keeps loosing the library and will not successfully connect with and play the music I have on the drive. We’ve loaded the Codec, reset the database, assigned a dedicated IP address, and just about everything. I understand that Roon support can actually get on my system and help out.
This is likely and unfortunately due to corruption occurring within your current Roon Database. Our team was able to review a fresh diagnostic report highlighting the following errors:
Error: [broker/database] corruption detected: Corruption: bad entry in block
One option would be to restore from a saved back up that pre-dates the issues you’re having. If you do have that available, let me know once you’ve restored that backup and we can check for any signs of corruption tied to that backup.
If you don’t have a backup, you may need to start with a fresh database, which is like starting from scratch. I know this isn’t the ideal situation, and I’m truly sorry to have to share this with you.
