Upgraded Roon Server causes tracks to skip after 30 seconds (ref#D9671O)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· Have just upgraded Roon Server - Albums in my library now only play 30sec introductions & then skips to next track. Can't see how to stop this to play entire track or album.

Problem also occurs when playing from Tidal - obviously some "preview" setting in Roon that I need to turn off - but can;t see how to!.

Appreciate I am probably being very dumb!

Hi @Bob_Partridge,

You are not being dumb at all! It completely makes sense why you would think there is a hidden “preview” toggle somewhere in the settings, as that is exactly how it is behaving.

However, there isn’t a setting in Roon that causes this. The 30-second limit is actually a restriction coming directly from Tidal.

Your Tidal account is currently reporting its status to Roon as INTRO. Tidal automatically sends this INTRO status—which restricts all playback to 30-second preview clips—when a subscription has expired, a payment has failed, or the account has dropped to a free, unsupported tier.

Because Roon seamlessly blends your streaming favorites into your main library, any Tidal albums you have added to your Roon library will also exhibit this skipping behavior.

How to fix this:

  1. Log into your account directly on the Tidal website or the official Tidal app.
  2. Check your subscription and billing settings to ensure your premium account is active.

Let us know if you have any trouble getting the music playing in full again!

Thank you - and yes I was being dumb!

Tidal API authorizations aren’t always the most stable between updates and this can happen from time to time. We’ll mark this resolved for now but please reach out if we can assist further!
