It would be more practical if we could upload a convolution file from an usb stick on a ROCK machine instead of using a windows pc (which some of us don not have!)
Would save me a lot of time and miles to do this on my friends Roon Servers…
Now I have to travel with my windows laptop over there…
I do not think this is so much work?
Doesn’t this rather beg the question of how the convolution filters are created in the first place? They are surely bespoke for each physical listening room and speakers - and generated using a calibrated USB microphone and software such as REW running on your Windows laptop?
I am using HouseCurve app on a Ipad with calibrated UMIK microphone…
I send the FIR files files to my emailadres and for my system I can use my windows Laptop…no problem. Import in Roon, done.
But I also do measurements at some friends homes..The first time I am there with my windows laptop…same procedure…no problem.
And if they only have Ipad and Linux computer, they can do the measurements themselves but same problem to get them in Roon…
But every time we think a new FIR could be better sounding (well it keeps us busy) I have to go over there to repeat the procedure…
In that case it would be usefull to send the files to their email adres and they copy the file to an usb stick and stick that in the ROCK server and upload it in Roon.
Just you could understand why I raise this question.
BTW I do not think it is that much work to make this possible.
