USB C External HD with Nucleus?

I am out of space on my Nucleus SSD. Have an external Lacie 4TB which is USB C. I am using a USB C to USB 3 adapter, plug it into the Thunderbolt port on back original Nucleus but it’s not showing up.
Will this not work? Any advice ? Thank you so much.

Still? Wow thought by now it would be active. I’m confused on what to do. The nucleus is usb 3 but this adapter is too small for the usb ports on the back of unit, but it’s usb 3 as well? any advice. Thank you for replying

Can’t you get a USB-C to USB 3 cable that fits on the Nucleus side?

I’m trying to but the Nucleus manual just says it’s ''usb 3" but it looks like usb A ? which I can get usb c to usb a.
why do they have to make this all so confusing? geez.

USB 3 is a protocol version, USB A is a type of connector.

A USB 3.0 Standard-A receptacle accepts either a USB 3.0 Standard-A plug or a USB 2.0 Standard-A plug. Wikipedia

Simply google “USB-C to USB 3 cable” and lots of stuff falls out, all like this:

Yes thank you I just ordered one from Amazon. Thanks for your help much appreciated .
