USB vs AES which is better I have an Auralic Aries G1 into a SMSL SU10? I am currently using the AES but I’m not sure if the internal clock is working and causing jitter?
USB is asyncronous, which means the DAC is in control of timing, so you should use this option if it is available.
Regarding jitter, this really isn’t an issue nowadays, and jitter would need to be significant to be heard anyway.
Typically, the clocks are accurate to a few pico seconds. So, unless you can hear an issue, AES is likely working just fine.

All you can do is try them and see if there is any audible difference and if you prefer one over the other.
AES out of my G2 into my Yggrdrasil A2 sounds better than USB in my scenario. I don’t have the Unison USB.
