· Hi Roon Team, I am hoping you may be able to help? I have an Innous ZenithSE that will not connect to Roon. I have contacted Innuos who advised me to to go into storage to add my Zenith \\zenith\music ( I get : Error loading folder Unauthorised) Nothing I have tried works?? I have disconnected my VPN. Router is supplied by Telecom here in Germany it is router-pass , speed port smart4plus.The cor is on a MAC and both MAC and zenith are on smart plugs, Hoping you can help, many thanks, Gareth
The “Unauthorized” error usually means that your Mac is trying to access the Innuos Zenith, but the connection is being rejected due to missing or incorrect login credentials.
Instead of adding the network path directly into Roon, we can bypass this by “mounting” the Innuos folder directly into your macOS first. This makes the music folder appear to Roon as if it were a local drive.
Step 1: Mount the Zenith folder in macOS
Open Finder on your Mac.
In the top menu bar, go to Go > Connect to Server… (or press Command + K).
In the “Server Address” box, type: smb://zenith/music
Note: If this doesn’t work, try using the Zenith’s IP address instead, for example: smb://192.168.x.x/music.
Click Connect.
If prompted for a username and password, try selecting Guest. If that fails, contact Innuos support for the specific credentials set on your Zenith SE.
Once connected, the “music” folder should appear on your Mac desktop or in the sidebar.
Step 2: Add the folder to Roon
Open Roon and go to Settings > Storage.
Click Add Folder.
Instead of “Add Network Share,” look for the Volumes folder on your Mac.
You should see the mounted music folder from your Zenith there. Select it and click “Select this folder.”
A quick tip on Smart Plugs
Since you mentioned both the Mac and Zenith are on smart plugs: please ensure that you are performing a proper software shutdown of the Innuos Zenith before cutting the power via the smart plug. Abruptly cutting power to a server can often lead to database corruption or file system errors.
Please let us know if macOS successfully connects to the Zenith via the “Connect to Server” method!
Many, many thanks for your quick response and excellent solution. Your guidance was easy to follow and to execute I now have 6000 saved albums talking to Roon and ready to play.
