Using ROON prevents other apps from recognizing the network player

Using ROON prevents other apps from recognizing the network player.

I’m using M1T Network Player and Chromecast.

I mainly use ROON and TIDAL on my PC.

TIDAL app recognizes M1T and Chromecast as available devices just fine.

However, after running the ROON, the M1T and Chromecast completely disappear from the device list in TIDAL App.

  • On Android devices, the network players are still visible and functional in the TIDAL Android app.

I have to reboot my PC before the network devices are recognized and used in the TIDAL app.

What can I do to resolve this issue?

@BJ_Kim, do you have your M1T and Chromecast devices set to Exclusive mode from within Roon under their Zone Settings or Settings → Audio → Device Setup? If so, then your computer you are using for your Core may not be releasing the device.

What computer (type and OS) are you using for your Core, and if you disable in Roon the device you want to use directly with Tidal, does your Tidal app see the device?

Thank you for your comment.

I’m well aware that ROON’s Exclusive mode setting affects the device recognition of other apps.

My question was not about the impact of Exclusive mode.

First of all, it is my understanding that network devices like M1T and Chromecast do not have the option to enable Exclusive mode in ROON.

I am using Windows 11 on a pc with an Intel 8700K cpu, which has ROON CORE installed on it.

And my networkplay environment is all wired.

Hey @BJ_Kim,

Thanks for taking the time to write in! Sorry for the delay in getting to your thread.

Following up on @Robert_F’s comment, it may be worth double-checking to confirm that Exclusive mode is disabled across each separate zone?

If possible, could you please reproduce the issue, and share the specific date and time in which the issue occurs? From there, we’ll pull diagnostics on your core device and should be able to take a closer look.

Thanks! :+1:
