I have a single roon license and would like to use them in different locations
Describe your network setup

Well, sorry about the inconvenience. My question is simple. Can I use my roon license in different locations with different Roon server devices while the other one is switched off? Because of my job, I am frequently traveling between two locations and want to use my roon core in those locations (not simultaneously). That is what I did last week. Switched off my roon core in location one and flew to location two. When I switched on the roon core on location 2, it started behaving strangely. It said that I needed to logout from the other device. But I cannot do that until I travel back. What should I do?
Location 1 : NUC i7, wired
Location 2 : MAC mini M4, wireless
You can switch the license between the two different locations. However, the Roon database (and music files) will not automatically be synced between the two locations. If this is important to you, you would have to create a database backup in one location and restore it on the other.
It seems that you added this after my first reply (or I completely overlooked it).
It is not the case that you can only switch after you travel back. You can do it in the second location as well.
When you start the Roon Server in the second location and you try to connect to it, you should see a window telling you that your Roon license is connected to the other server. There should be a button Unauthorize next to it. Clicking this button removes the license from the other server, and then you can connect to the server in the second location.
The same happens after you travel back.
You can make the switch in any location because the association of the license with a particular server is saved in the Roon cloud, so it doesn’t matter where you are.
Thank you for taking time and responding my thread. As a matter of fact the initial creation of this thread did not offer reasonable amount of detail, so I had to elaborate on the issue to better explain it. I did not overlook your message, was just too focused to make my entry complete.
I have read your message and I did exactly what you advised. However everytime (every day) I reopen the device and open the Roon app, I receive a message telling me that I had to logout from the other device although I had selected “unauthorize” from the screen you had described. Will see what happens tomorrow also, but that is the very reason why I created this thread. Because the system did not show the expected behavior (it had to let me proceed with my “current” Roon server as I already have de-authorized the other).
Just to avoid confusion, sometimes when I reach Roon via my phone I manage to reach the library and play some songs, but after I while I get that “you should logout” message.
Hope that clarifies,
Again thank you for taking time to respond to my message.
You can have and use multiple Roon servers with one Roon subscription, but can only have one server authorized at a time. As posted above, the authorization is recorded on the Roon Labs server.
Obviously, you cannot use Roon Arc if the server on which Roon Arc is installed is unauthorized.
Roon will remember which is the authorized server.
