Valence Edit Link Missing

I really like to have images of artists and contributors in Roon. When an image is missing, I will make attempts to add it using Valence. Usually the process is pretty straightforward.

Tap the add a photo:

and I’m on my way:

At other times, I’ll get an artist or contributor without the link:

I think I found an alternate path. First, I tap on the three dots, select edit and then tap “add image”. When I do that, the Valence bullet is deselected and the bullet moves to the right where Edit is located:

and then I follow the steps:

This too is pretty straightforward, but I am uncertain if that image is add to Valence or just to my local library.

Is there a way I can add images to Valence if an artist or contributor is missing the link?

This is just local. When uploading to Valence, the website asks for two versions (wide for the artist main page, possibly another one for the round image in credits, cropping, etc.).

There’s the advantage that you don’t have to care whether the image gives you any rights to distribute like Valence nominally requires.

Not sure why the link is missing, but you can always go manually to https://valence.roonlabs.com/ and click the Contribute button top right

Thanks for the tips. I have come across the missing “add a photo” link a few times on my last dozen or so submissions. I tried the contribute link in Valence as you suggested, but that gives me more or less a tutorial on how to submit to Valence and not the actual mechanism to submit. After launching, I tap submit and it goes to the next screen, submit, submit, etc.:

It seems to me that the “add a photo” link should always be there. It’s weird that there is this inconsitency. Perhaps a moderator (@Suedkiez is that you?) could move this thread to support?

First there is the tutorial, but I guess you are supposed to complete it. However simply search for an artist, top right, then you can edit them (at least I can but I completed the tutorial at some point).

No:

Mods have a star and it says “mod”

And they are listed on the About page (from the forum’s main menu, top right: About - Roon Labs Community)

Though generally, every Trust Level 3 user can move threads, and you may be able yourself if you ever need to. Just point with the mouse at the title and there may be an edit button:

However, it’s not good to move threads to Support because they won’t get a ticket number and support staff may miss them. Support threads should always be created from the SupportGet Help button

You’re right. I can enter an artist in the top right, so that will work. Thanks for that tip!

I’ll submit a new ticket through support to see why the “add a photo” link is missing. It would be good to have that all within Roon instead of opting in through the Valence web page.
