Hi everyone.
In two weeks it‘s my youngest son‘s 7th birthday. He would love an Alexa, but I do not want to fork over money to Amazon every month… I‘m a Tidal and Qobuz subscriber and a Roon lifelong member. Is there a voice controlled speaker that works with Roon that doesn‘t control my whole system, just the one speaker? I could, of course, buy one of the Sonos speakers but then he can control our whole house… would lead to problems! Any ideas?

I think this will be difficult. The speakers are designed to control everything from everywhere.
I only have experience with google.
With google you build a “home” and then you add all kinds of devices to it; lights, cameras and also speakers.
If I would like to do the same as you, I think I need to add a second home and add one speaker only to that home.
But what’s the problem? If my daughter would like to have a voice controlled speaker, I would let her. So, she could control the lights in the living from her bedroom. Might be fun for a few days but that would be it. I would annoy her back bij turning of the lights in her room.
They have to learn and they will experiment/play with it. But look at the benefit, when your kid is 8 he/she probably knows more about the system than you do and they can help you
